Yattodetaman is the fifth book in the Time Bokan series. In this series, two royal houses battle for the power to rule the Kingdom of Fir. In order to secure the Kingdom, two representatives go back in time to find the mythical Firebird, which will allow its bearer to become the rightful ruler.
So this is the Jujaku, the mythical phoenix/peacock bird that they must capture.
I have learned from some of my friends at Anime-Beta that cels from older series (pre 1990's) had tracing lines painted on top of the cel, rather than penned in, as is the case with newer cels. I actually think the cel more gorgeous because there are no black lines. We also came to the consensus that it was perhaps trimmed, as there are no cel numbers painted in the corner. We ruled this cel an actual production cel.
